Chapter 2 The purpose and the objectives of the association
Art.6. The purpose of the association is to promote, protect and train the investigative journaists. The association acknowledges and respects the mass-media role, the transparence afirmation and the freedom of expression as well as trought the investigative journalism, as press agent.
The association:
1. Contributes at the improvement
of the legislative medium wich hints the mass-media, the public information
statute and the freedom of expression in general.
2. Assists the journalists when the freedom of expression is beeing
limited.
3. Promovates the professional mass communication values and acts for the recognition
of the importance of the mass-media role in the democratics values assertion.
4. Conceives programmes that are meant to raise the public awareness about the
devices of manipulation throught mass-media.
5. Atracts resources meant to focuse on the promotion of the democracy, the
observence of the human rights and the individual freedom.
6. Promovates a positive attitude concerning the freedome of expression.
7. Acts as a resources for the organisations and institutions with asimilar
activity and also for the persons that are interested by this domain, here in
the country an abroad.
8. Searches resources meant to improuve programes that are focused on the information
access and the improvement of the public institutions image.
9. Monitors the situations that may limitate the transparence and
the freedom of expression or may restrict the typical activities of investigative
journalists.
10. Conceives and promotes investigative projects on public interests, with
national (and transnational) impact.
11. Supports by every legal existing means any investigative journalists that
are in need.
12. Aknowledges the journalist and photojournalist statute even if they are
free-lancers.
Whit a view to the achevement of these purposes, the Association is willing to do the following activites:
1. studies concerning investigative
journalism and the constituation of a date-base containing journalistic inquiryies,
classified on domains. As well as pointing out any deviation from the low made
by any investigative journalist.
2. Setting up a center of documentetion concerning the investigative journalism.
3. Estimate the effects, at a political and economical level, generated by breacking
the access at information and the freedome of expression in Romania.
4. To participate at national and international programs that are complementary
to the Association’s objectives.
5. To organize seminaries, round-tables, conferences and campaigns in order
to make the public aware of the repercussions when the right to information
is broken, regarding the investigative journalism.
6. To organize instructive activities and briefing classes.
7. To collaborate with public and private institutions, similar organizations
(national or international) by offering specialize consultation.
8. To publish it’s own publications (news bulletins, studies, reports,
magazines, books etc) including electronic publications.
9. To support the actions and initiatives that are complementary to the Association’s
purposes and objectivities.
10. To reveal the investigative journalists that have seriously swerve from
the professional deontology.
11. To dishearten trough any legal ways activities such as “press cartel”.
Chapter 3: The members of the Association
The founding members as well as the upholders must declare on their own responsibility that they have never been members or contributors of the former Romanian Secret Service under the communist regime or members of any present service of intelligence, as well as members (former or present) of any movement or party that are forbidden by the present legislation.
