RCIJ work’s as partner with IWPR in London, to accomplish a joint
investigative project on human trafficking phenomenon in the Balkans. The
work team for this project consists on 8 investigative journalists, in eight
different countries (Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania,
Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania). This team is coordinated by RCIJ.
An initiative of three associations from Denmark (FUJ, DICAR and IMS) has
launched a program to support the investigative journalism in Ukraine, financed
by the Danish government. RCIJ participate at this project as a foreign
expert. The project frame will also include some cross-border investigative
reports, on major topics (like the arms-trade in the region) and will make
investigative journalists from Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Moldova and Russia
work together.
RCIJ will take part at the Global Investigative Journalism Conference in
Copenhagen, between 1 and 4th of May. This conference will also mean the
creation of a global network of investigative journalists. The network will
consist on centres similar to RCIJ and senior investigative journalists
from more than 40 countries.
RCIJ members will be active trainers for journalism students. The first
activity in this sense is already in course (not on regularly basis) at
the Bucharest Journalism and Communication University.
Mihai Vasile is heading a team of photojournalists, who will illustrate
the investigative projects of RCIJ. They will also promote original initiatives,
realized as individuals or as a team.
